Computer Agreement Summary |
| 1. |
Students are responsible for the care of the notebook computer. Always take care in handling the computer. An appropriate case must be used at all times. The computer should never be left unattended. Unattended computers will be collected by staff. |

The computer must be kept clean. Eating and drinking near the computer is not permitted. |

All computer identification (passwords, barcode, name tag) must remain in place. |

Students are responsible for being prepared by bringing their charger to school. Students may not loan their chargers to other students. Replacement chargers cost $65. |

Computer damage or malfunction must be reported to the 1 to 1 computer program director so repairs can be undertaken. Computer malfunction is covered under warranty. Damage is not always covered under warranty. There are three levels of damage: (1) no fault accident – covered under warranty (2) preventable accident – student is liable and can expect to complete up to 8 hours of service work (3) deliberate damage – student is liable and must pay for the cost of repair. |

Students are expected to focus on school work when using the computer during class time to eliminate distractions. Closing screens or turning computers around to stay focused, or when asked to do so by a teacher, is expected. |

Wireless access is to be turned off except when instructed by a teacher to activate wireless. This also saves battery power. |

It is recommended that no student has their computer connected to the internet at home without parent supervision. |

Any music, video, image, or text files stored or viewed on the computer must be appropriate in a school setting. Media files stored on the computer must be legal copies..

Internet use and district email services are monitored. Any attempt to bypass web filtering is strictly prohibited. No chat like activity is allowed on the school computer while on school property. District email is not to be used like chat. |

No additional programs may be installed on the computer or used on external devices connected to the computer without consent of the 1 to 1 computer director. Some software may be installed at the request of students of parents. E.g., printer drivers. All software must be 100% legal. |

Students must supply their computer and username/password for inspection when asked. All content viewed on the computer may be examined. It is important to understand that deleted or “cleaned out” material may be viewed with special software and that any attempts to get around this feature will be considered a serious breach of the computer agreement. |

Regular backup of computer files is the responsibility of the student. It is recommended that every student uses a USB drive regularly to backup files or burns files onto writeable CD’s or DVD’s. |

Parents assume responsibility for the rent-to-own $315 per year payment and the costs associated with deliberate damage. |

Computers are owned after 4 years of payments however they remain the property of the school district until the student leaves the school and pays a $10 buyout fee. It is recommended that parents insure the notebook computer against theft with the optional “Peace-of-Mind” insurance ($25 per year, per computer) available through ATS (police report and contact with the school administration is required if a claim is requested; replacement at no additional cost). |
